Alstroemeria Pink Flower Watercolor Painting in Progress

I just can't help myself! I've put it off for as long as I can, but I can no longer delay painting these fabulous flowers!

When I first saw Alstroemeria, I thought that they were "fake" silk flowers. It wasn't until I actually touched them that I realized they were indeed real! I have been buying fresh cut Alstroemeria for quite some time now because not only are they beautiful, but they last weeks!

Here is the beginning of my painting of a bouquet of salmon-pink flowers. After I penciled them in, I started to lay in the colors to get the general shapes and experiment with the background.

After weeks, it's finally starting to look like something. I'm trying to get that luminous quality that these flowers are known for.

I still have a long way to go, but I will keep working at it. It's the tiny details that make all the difference! I hope that you enjoy getting a glimpse at my painting in progress. When I finish, I'll post the completed Alstroemeria!

Monarch Butterfly Art Print of Original Watercolor Painting

I have been away from my blog for way too long. Painting, gardening, travel, family fun - so much to do, so little time! Has that ever happened to you? I've saved a lot for you and will have to catch up fast!

I absolutely love watching the colorful butterflies in my summer garden flit from flower to flower! In this painting, a Monarch butterfly rests momentarily on the Blood Flower Scarlet Milkweed, (Asclepias, if you want to get technical!). It's one of this butterfly's favorites! As with most of my paintings, this one is inspired by the many flowers and creatures in my garden.

This is the first butterfly I've ever painted and I'm wondering what you think of it. I hope to hear from you soon!

New Painting WHITE CALLA LILY WATERCOLOR

This stunning white calla lily "called to me" at my local produce center. Its fabulous creamy color, great shape, and unusual texture was hard to resist. I had a great time painting it with its subtle gradations of white, cream, and yellow. Adding the tropical leaf helps set off this gorgeous blossom! Enjoy!

NEW PAINTING - PINK TULIP

Tulips say Romance and Elegance. My new painting of a single tulip says both with its antique gold filigree and rich green backdrop.

I hope that you enjoy my gold filigree technique. I used gold gesso, a very thick water-based paint, rolled it out with a brayer, used a special filigree stamp, then stamped it under my watercolor and, for parts, on top of it. Try it. It's fun!

POMEGRANATES WATERCOLOR - NEW PAINTING

by Barbara Rosenzweig

The pomegranate is mentioned in ancient texts of the Bible and Homer. It's valued for its beauty and versatility as a fruit with medicinal qualities, It also is a symbol of prosperity, fruitfulness, and ambition, with many myths and religious meanings ascribed to it. That's what drew me to create this watercolor, showing the stunning fruit growing on its small tree. I hope that you enjoy the fine art reproduction made from my original painting.

ABOUT BOTANIC

These softly colored pastel magnolias are set in a golden background giving it a glow that is luminous. This elegant painting will look absolutely stunnning in your home, especially if it's Tuscan decor!

Curator of XYouZ from Paris, France, created this collection of lovely, softly colored botanical paintings and photographs. It's a shame that Etsy cut off the top and bottom of my painting (below, left), looking kind of strange, but you can see the whole painting above. Enjoy!
