Floral Collage

This unusual large floral collage is a mixed media piece. I enjoyed using textured art paper, some torn into shapes to mimic bamboo, watercolors, and a stipling pen to create depth and contours. This collage was inspired by the minimalist paintings of Asian artists.

There's one hydrangea bush in my garden that has the softest of blue tones. I tried to capture the delicate petals tinted with just a touch of pink. The Chambered Nautilus' beautifully intricate patterns of brown jagged lines on its cream-colored shell always inspires me. I especially love its pearlized "eye." This very jewel of Nature makes a very special gift for a vacation shore home, especially when grouped with my other shell paintings! Or you can create a tropical paradise right in your own home!
